That's a funny picture. I can remember is 554 part of the license plate number. It just blew my mind that they left like almost instantly.

No kidding. That'll come back to bite 'em in the ass, though, once the police catch up with them (and a lot of us wrote down the plate number, so the cops do know who it was). You definitely get in more trouble when you flee the scene of something like that. At least I hope you do.

If anyone's confused, this is a cropped version of a picture Sarah took at the Altoona road race on Saturday. I mentioned here that some dumbass in an SUV drove straight through the wheelpit and crunched a bunch of wheels during the 1/2/3 race, and this is the horrifying proof. Kinda hurts to look at it, don't you think?

Was this someone connected with the race, or just some random idiot driving through? Either way they ought to be shot or something.

It's a good advertisement for that tire. I would have thought the axle would have punched a hole in it and put the SUV on the shoulder within a mile.

Wow -- My dad never comments on my blog. But Annie's Daddy did say exactly what I thought.

The vehicle did not get any further than that, so they didn't run over the hub--they had already been stopped, and were instructed to VERY SLOWLY back off the wheels.

Heh. And Annie's Dad has a fine academic pedigree, what with a Ph.D. from my alma mater...
